Regarding returns
At Heritage Japon, every kimono is a unique vintage piece, carefully selected for its aesthetic, historical, and textile value. To ensure trust while respecting the delicate nature of vintage items, we offer returns under strict and transparent conditions.
1. Scope of Application
This policy applies only to vintage kimonos and obis sold on our website.
Each item is evaluated and classified using the following Condition Grading Scale: A, B, C, or D (displayed on the product page).
2. Condition Grading Scale
GradeDescription
🟢 A – Like NewUnworn or only tried on. No signs of wear. Perfect fabric and embroidery. No stains or creases. Colors are vibrant.
🔵 B – Very GoodWorn a few times, well stored. Looks nearly new from a distance. Slight softness in collar or sleeves. Minor creases or tiny internal marks possible.
🟠 C – GoodVisible but general signs of use. Even fading, small external marks or discoloration. Occasional repair traces. Still wearable.
🔴 D – UsedClear signs of frequent wear. Fading, large stains, visible repairs, loosened seams. Wearable with care or suitable for collection.
⚠️ Minor age-related features such as light stains, folds, or vintage scent are included in the grading. They do not constitute valid reasons for return.
3. Accepted Return Cases
Returns are accepted only in the following cases:

✅ Wrong item received (model, size, color)

✅ Undisclosed major defect exceeding the condition grade:

Large tear on a Grade A/B/C item

Stain not visible in photos nor described

Major seam damage or structural defect

✅ Change of mind, under strict conditions (see §4)
4. Return Conditions (including change of mind)
A return is accepted, even for personal reasons, only if all the following conditions are met:

📦 Return shipped within 7 days of our confirmation

👘 Item must be in identical condition as received:

Unworn (no perfume, sweat, extra creases)
-
Unwashed
-
Unaltered (not ironed, sewn, or modified)

All accessories/tags present

📦 Packaging equivalent to original to ensure protection

🚚 Return shipping costs are borne by the customer (except in cases of error or defect)
5. Return Procedure

Reply within 24h:
If approved, we’ll send the return address and instructions. -
Ship the item with a tracking number and retain the proof of shipment.
6. Inspection & Refund
All items are photographed and timestamped before shipping.
On return, we inspect the item based on the original grading and description:

✔️ If all conditions are met, refund is issued within 5 business days (excluding shipping).

❌ If the item shows wear, cleaning, alterations, or damage, the return is rejected and the customer may cover reshipping.
7. Returns Not Accepted
Returns are not accepted in the following cases:

❌ Request made after 7 days from delivery

❌ Return shipped more than 7 days after approval

❌ Item worn, washed, altered, or returned in different condition

❌ Minor flaw already included in the condition grade (see §2)

❌ Unauthorized return or free return abuse
8. Transparency Commitment
Every item is thoroughly inspected, photographed, and timestamped before shipping.
In the event of a return, these records are used to objectively verify the item's condition.

Shipping Information
1. Delivery Area
We deliver throughout Japan (including remote islands) and to countries around the world.
Orders will be shipped within 2 business days of receipt.
Estimated delivery time (within Japan):
Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu: 1-3 business days after shipping
Hokkaido, Okinawa, and remote islands: 3-7 business days after shipping.
Estimated delivery time (international):
Asia: 4-8 business days after shipping
Europe: 7-14 business days after dispatch
North America: 7-14 business days after shipping
South America, Africa, Oceania: 10-20 business days after shipping
*Delays may occur due to weather, traffic conditions, or customs procedures.

2. Shipping method
All items will be shipped via Japan Post.
3. Shipping fee
Free shipping throughout Japan. For international shipping, shipping costs will be automatically calculated at checkout.
4. Tracking number
After your order has been shipped, we will send you a tracking number via email. You can check the delivery status on the Japan Post website.
5. Regarding delivery problems
If your item does not arrive, is damaged, or has been delivered incorrectly, please contact us within 3 days of receiving the item.
6. Regarding incorrect address entry
If your order is returned due to an incorrect address, you will be responsible for the cost of reshipping. Please double-check your address when placing your order.

Importing plants
The prices displayed on this website include Japanese consumption tax. However, other fees and taxes (customs duties, import taxes, etc.) are the responsibility of the customer.
